SUITBORN NIGHT 3 Hiding & Closet Survival

Closets save shifts — until Gojira sees you enter or anxiety catches up inside.

Hiding & Closets Guide

Closets are the primary safe rooms in SUITBORN, but they are not invincible bubbles. Alpha AI improvements let hunters open closet doors, track sound, and punish players who dive in while already spotted. Anxiety also continues to matter while you hide — stay too long and the panic meter finishes what the kaiju started. This guide teaches when to enter, when to leave, and how to use closets across Night 1–3 after UPDATE v4.0 shipped live Kong.

Pair it with Manage Anxiety and Controls so interact, lean, and camera exits stay clean under pressure.

What closets actually do

BenefitLimit
Break line of sight during a chaseUseless if the hunter saw you enter
Pause reckless hallway exposureAnxiety can still climb inside
Buy time for teammates to deskTeammates can lead hunters to your door
Reset after a near missLeaving into a sprint often re-aggros

Think of closets as interrupt tools, not AFK camps.

Enter rules (memorize these)

  1. Enter on escalation, not on contact. If you already have eye contact in an open hall, sprint to the next corner first — diving while watched invites a door check.
  2. Prefer closets you scouted earlier. Night 1 should include a mental map of 4–6 closet clusters near generator, posters, and camera desk.
  3. Close cleanly. Fumble the interact and you waste the only window that mattered.
  4. Go silent. No flashlight cone leaking from the door; no chat spam if voice carries into panic decisions.
  5. Call the hide in co-op (“closet east of gen”) so allies do not kite through your tile.

Exit rules

  1. Wait until audio fades — footsteps, drags, heavy breathing cues.
  2. Crack the door with patience; lean if your bind set supports peeks (Controls).
  3. Walk to desk or emote — do not celebrate with an immediate Shift sprint across the main hall.
  4. If anxiety is orange/red, prioritize camera recovery before the next task bundle.

AI can open closets — play around it

Community and guide coverage are consistent: Suitborn hunters can open closets when they see you hide or investigate suspicious noise nearby. Counters:

  • Never hide in the first closet adjacent to the room where you were spotted.
  • Break line of sight around a corner, then take the second closet.
  • If a door check starts, be ready to leave opposite the hunter path instead of freezing.
  • Do not stack two survivors in one closet during Night 2 dual pressure — one exit failure deletes both.

Anxiety inside the closet

Hiding stops some exposure but does not freeze panic forever. Long camps recreate the tutorial warning: anxiety catches up. Practical limits:

  • Short hides (chase pass) — exit to desk.
  • Medium hides (dual hunter sweep) — exit to emote + desk.
  • Long camps — you are already losing; leave toward power/cameras even if it feels scary.

Blackout situations make closet camping worse because darkness anxiety stacks. Stabilize generators instead of living in a locker.

Night-by-night closet priorities

Night 1 — Gojira

Learn closet clusters near the office, generator, and poster wings. Gojira teaches audio tells; use hides to practice clean exits. Walkthrough: Night 1.

Night 2 — Anguirus / Csybot

Dual threats punish predictable closet spam near basement stairs. Rotate hide spots between Csybot piece routes. Keep one player off closets on cameras when possible. Walkthrough: Night 2.

Night 3 — Kong (live V4.0)

Scale pressure and open grounds make late hides more valuable — and more punished if mistimed. Scout vertical-adjacent closets on your first Kong shift; do not invent routes mid-chase. Guide: Night 3 Kong.

Closets vs cameras vs emotes

ToolBest for
ClosetSurviving an active chase
CamerasLowering anxiety + intel
EmotesSafe-room composure between loops

New players mash closets for everything. Veterans closet for death prevention, then desk for meter recovery. Mixing the two is how co-op squads stabilize Night 2–3.

Flashlight and Night Vision near hide spots

  • Kill flashlight before the final approach to a closet when a hunter might see the beam path.
  • Night Vision helps you find closet doors in dark wings without advertising a cone — see Gamepasses.
  • After exit, avoid instant light spam that re-draws attention to the tile you just left.

Common hiding mistakes

  • Diving into a closet while clearly watched.
  • Camping until anxiety maxes.
  • Hiding in the generator room closet every single chase (predictable).
  • Teammates looting the same wing while you hide (leads the hunter home).
  • Exiting into sprint toward unfinished far tasks with orange anxiety.

Practice drill

On Night 1:

  1. Trigger a safe chase, break LOS around a corner, hide in the second closet.
  2. Exit only after audio fade; walk to cameras; recover to green.
  3. Repeat using a different closet cluster.
  4. Intentionally fail once by hiding while watched — learn the door-check punishment so you stop repeating it on Night 3.

Closets buy seconds. Skill turns those seconds into a living clock, a calm meter, and a 6 AM extract.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

Can Gojira open closet doors in SUITBORN?

Yes. If the AI sees you enter or investigates nearby noise, it can open closets. Break line of sight before hiding whenever possible.

Does anxiety still rise while hiding?

It can. Closets are not permanent safe AFK spots. Exit to cameras or emotes after the chase passes.

Should I hide in the first closet I see during a chase?

Only if you already broke line of sight. The first adjacent closet after being spotted is the riskiest choice.

How do closets change on Night 3 Kong?

The tools are the same, but mistimed hides on open ground are punished harder. Scout closet clusters on your first V4.0 Kong shift.

Can two players share one closet?

Avoid it on Night 2+. One failed exit or door check can wipe both survivors. Split hides and keep someone on cameras.
